Costa Brava by Private Car: A Slow Guide to the Wild Coast
Tossa de Mar, Begur, Calella de Palafrugell and Cadaqués — how to explore the Costa Brava comfortably with a private driver.
The Costa Brava is not one destination but a chain of coves, pine cliffs and stone villages running from Blanes to the French border. The coastal road that links them, the GI-682, is beautiful and slow — exactly the kind of driving best left to someone else.
Where to go
Tossa de Mar for its walled old town rising straight out of the sea. Calella de Palafrugell and Llafranc for whitewashed seafront terraces. Begur for hilltop views and the coves of Aiguablava and Sa Tuna. Cadaqués, further north, for Dalí's house and the whitest village on the coast.
Public transport between these places is slow and often requires backtracking inland. A private car turns a full-day logistics puzzle into a comfortable itinerary.
Planning your day
A Costa Brava day tour from Barcelona takes 8 to 10 hours with three or four stops. From Lloret or Platja d'Aro you can see far more in the same time. Our chauffeurs know where to park, when the coves fill up, and which terraces are worth the stop.
